Hello, Beautiful People of The Jollylook Community!

Thank you for backing Jollylook!

Straight to the news:

During October we assembled and installed equipment, arranged lighting, heating, and pneumatic lines, we already installed the conveyor and four pneumatic presses, one of which has a heated plate.

We continue the selection and training of personnel - we now have nine assemblers who have completed the internship and a quality controller.

We chose and tested the necessary materials of Ukrainian production: Cardboard, binding material, and good quality glue. We ordered the cutting dies according to the updated design and in the near future, we will receive cardboard semimanufactures for Jollylook camera bodies and bellows. Ukrainian contractors have made the packaging, the quality of which is good.

We are now using a small number of components that were delivered by air. While we continue to assemble cardboard parts for the camera body, we are dismantling some of the defective cameras that were made in China - we decided not to use the cardboard elements that were made in China, because of their low quality. We will only be using the parts for the development units.

Most of the cameras and the rest of the components made in China are coming in a shipping container and are expected to arrive in Odessa, Ukraine on November 21st. Then it will take about a week for customs clearance and delivery to our factory.

We can't wait for the parts to arrive and we check the location of the vessel carrying the container every day. It is now in the East Mediterranean, Tracking link.

Starting the manufacturing in Ukraine, we very carefully plan the costs, since now we are also responsible for the people we hired.

This is how our Ukrainian factory starts. You can be confident in our perseverance and the ability to bring the Jollylook project to implementation and fulfill our obligations. Now, when we fully control the production, everything is going according to plan.

We thank you ALL once again for your patience and understanding and massive support, we can't wait to send you your Ukrainian made Jollylook cameras.

We will keep you updated on our progress.

THANK YOU!

Until next time,

The Jollylook team.

Hello, Beautiful People of The Jollylook Community!

Thank you for backing Jollylook!

Straight to the news:

During September we formed and trained the first team of workers.

It is worth noting that the lack of a language barrier and a similar mentality make it very easy to understand the requirements and rules. The modernization of the conveyor has been completed, we will build the camera bodies on it:

We assembled and tested the first pneumatic press for pressing the parts to be glued.

We received the first batch of plastic components from China. Previously, after a detailed analysis of the causes of the faulty cameras, we made some changes to the design - three parts made of thick cardboard for the lens and the shutter block were replaced with plywood, which increased strength and rigidity; the body assembly and the bellows design have also been modified to facilitate the assembly process and improve reliability. Yesterday, at last, we started manufacturing the camera shutter blocks:

Strict detailed quality control did not reveal faults in the first hundreds of assemblies; the requirements for applying glue and the time standard for pressing were clarified. The Ukrainian manufacturer of cardboard packaging manufactured a suitable quality packaging box - it was less expensive to produce new ones than shipping ready boxes from China.

We expect that by the time of the arrival of the development units from China, which had to be sent by sea, most of the bodies will be fully prepared and we will proceed to shipping... Our struggle continues, but we are determined to do everything possible, to fulfill our obligations.

We thank you ALL once again for your patience and understanding and massive support, we can't wait to send you your perfect rewards.

We will keep you updated on our progress.

THANK YOU!

Until next time,

The Jollylook team.

Hello, Beautiful People of The Jollylook Community!

Thank you for backing Jollylook!

Straight to the news:

Our partners in China have finished disassembly of all components from all defective cameras, re-calculated them and packed them for shipping. We can use all the plastic and metal parts and most lenses for the Jollylooks that will be assembled in Ukraine. All these components that are necessary for the assembly of Jollylook are now being prepared for shipping from China to Ukraine and will be shipped soon.

While the components where being prepared for shipping we carefully selected contractors for the production of cardboard parts in Ukraine.

We also decided that several parts that were made earlier from cardboard, including the shutter block and base and the lens case, will now be replaced with thin plywood, which greatly increased the strength. We made assembly tests of the shutter blocks and got the good result in quality and assembly time.

We also purchased a conveyor and a glue application machine, they were installed and tested.

We also started assembling pneumatic presses for crimping the camera body (they had to be designed and made quickly in Ukraine)

We began recruiting personnel for assembly of Jollylooks and our head of production is training them every day.

The first batch of cardboard parts is already ordered, in the near future we will start production and will be able to fully control the quality and timings.

As we said in the previous update this is going to take some extra time. But we are doing our best to make a great camera that you will love.

We thank you ALL once again for your patience and understanding and massive support, we can't wait to send you your perfect rewards.

We will keep you updated on our progress.

THANK YOU!

Until next time,

The Jollylook team.

Assembly in Ukraine
almost 6 years ago – Thu, Jul 26, 2018 at 02:33:20 AM

Hello, Beautiful People of The Jollylook Community!

Thank you for backing Jollylook!

Straight to the news:

After we started the shipping and our backers started to receive the cameras, we hoped that we could finally fulfill our obligations to our backers, but it became clear that we would have to continue the struggle, as the shipping continued we received many reports from our backers, which indicated an unacceptably high percentage of defects. We immediately stopped sending out the cameras and organized a detailed inspection of each of the five thousand packed, quality controlled and marked ready-to-send by the factory, the number of cameras having defects was simply unbelievable: poor quality gluing and careless assembly and even incomplete packaging.

The conclusion that should have been made earlier - about not being able to work with this contractor was finally made. We had to threaten them to get back some of the money we paid them and took all the components from them.

Most of the ready-made cardboard parts of the cameras had to be recycled in order to extract the parts that can be used again without problems. Since out of seven contractors involved in the project problems occurred only with the assembly, we decided to send the components to Ukraine and to assemble Jollylook under our 24/7 full control over the quality and timing.

Those parts that will have to be produced by laser cutting we will manufacture in this factory in Ukraine:

Here we will install the belt conveyor system and will perform the assembly

We have purchased all the necessary equipment and will install it in the near future.

To finish this project and fulfill our obligations towards our backers for us is a matter of personal dignity! And of course, entirely for free, we will replace all the already sent cameras that turned out to be defective. This is going to take some extra time. But we will do our best to fix this situation and we will fix it.

We thank you ALL once again for your patience and understanding and massive support, we can't wait to send you your perfect rewards.

We will keep you updated.

THANK YOU!

Until next time,

The Jollylook team.

The Quality Control results and shipping start!
almost 6 years ago – Fri, Jun 15, 2018 at 02:32:36 AM

Hello, Beautiful People of The Jollylook Community!

Thank you for backing Jollylook!

Straight to the news:

We have been testing every single camera and the first two thousand cameras passed additional control.

Light tightness test

Shutter test in automatic and manual modes:

The development mechanism test

The packing of Jollylooks that passed the tests:

We already delivered these tested Jollylook cameras to our shipping partners without waiting for the completion of the entire batch release. During next week the first 2000 Jollylooks should be delivered to our amazing backers and in the coming 2 months All our backers should receive their Jollylooks. We hope that our attention to quality and careful testing will give the expected result and you will be able to enjoy the analog photos of Jollylook.

Such a long delay and the need to correct and remake a lot of parts led to a big cost overrun, and OIeg had to invest an additional $65,000 of his own savings in order to complete settlements with contractors and pay for part of the Instax mini cassettes that come with every camera for our backers. But this is not enough for Jollylook to survive and we still need to pay for the rest of the cassettes and the costs of the shipping. We have to start selling a part of the first batch to dealers before all the shipping to backers is complete, we will use the funds received to fulfill our obligations and to continue the manufacturing, it was a difficult but necessary decision! We are also looking for an investor and we will solve this issue in one way or another.

A serious problem remains - we still need to minimize the ammount of rejects of the manufactured Jollylook cameras and we are considering many options: optimizing the design to simplify the assembly, the possible change of the contractor and even the organization of our own assembly and of course we will cope with everything.

We thank you ALL once again for your patience and massive support, we can't wait to send you all your rewards and we beleive that all our backers will recieve their Jollylooks within the coming two months.

We will keep you updated.

THANK YOU!

Until next time,

The Jollylook team.
